Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer – and with that comes the official start of the busy road travel season. Keeping safety top of mind will help you start your road trip off right.
As we honor our veterans and those who serve this Memorial Day, also be sure to make responsible choices. If you’re going out, plan ahead for a safe ride home—make sure to designate a sober driver, or plan to take a ride share.
Honor the red, white, and blue by keeping the roads safe for everyone.

Plan Smart. Ride Free. Arrive Safe.
Sober Ride Indiana was created by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to give would-be impaired drivers a safe way home on high-risk holidays and events. Ultimately, the goal is to save Hoosier lives and prevent traffic fatalities.
Rides are available if they originate in or have a destination of Indianapolis or Fort Wayne. Credits can only be redeemed between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. You cannot reserve a Sober Ride or schedule a pickup in advance. Rides are available while supplies last.
The program is providing a free Uber or Lyft ride home up to $10. Users are financially responsible for anything over $10.
