Grills are on, drinks are flowing, and everyone suddenly becomes a self-proclaimed pitmaster, but if you’re partying like it’s a paid holiday (because it is), don’t treat the drive home like a free-for-all.
You wouldn’t show up to work drunk (we hope), so keep the roadways safe by planning ahead to ride with a designated driver, or call a rideshare.
Nothing says “Happy Labor Day!” like blue lights in your rearview and your burger getting cold while you fail a field sobriety test.
Let’s keep the grill the only thing getting lit this weekend.
Make smart choices. Get home safe.

Plan Smart. Ride Free. Arrive Safe.
Sober Ride Indiana was created by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to give would-be impaired drivers a safe way home on high-risk holidays and events. Ultimately, the goal is to save Hoosier lives and prevent traffic fatalities.
Rides are available if they originate in or have a destination of Indianapolis or Fort Wayne. Credits can only be redeemed between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. You cannot reserve a Sober Ride or schedule a pickup in advance. Rides are available while supplies last.
The program is providing a free Uber or Lyft ride home up to $10. Users are financially responsible for anything over $10.
